Patrick Flynn (October 23, 1968 - August 5, 2005)

There are three simple words Patrick would say about his death - GET OVER IT.  That's the way he lived his life, getting over the simple things, overcoming the major obstacles and appreciating every breath he took.  He was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Although Patrick was born with Cystic Fibrosis, the disease never defined him.  Patrick broke records by quickly recovering from a double lung transplant surgery.  He was able to resume playing competitive soccer and teaching his daughter how to swim just months after his operation.

He overcame more obstacles than most people could even imagine, never once complaining.  Patrick loved life and lived it to the fullest.  His legacy will continue on through his five year old daughter, Mackenzie, and his wonderful wife of 10 years, Christy Flynn.  Patrick also leaves behind his parents, brother and sister.

Patrick died at the age of 36 on Friday, August 5, 2005 at Duke University Hospital.  He is now an angel and is playing soccer with his brother, Michael.  While Patrick has left this world, he will always remain in our hearts.
